Lemon Oil: Using lemon oil for exhaustion January 31 2014

Like millions of people worldwide, you might experience periodic feelings of exhaustion. While many people turn to coffee and other stimulants to get them through “tired times,” lemon essential oil (citrus limonium) provides itself as a much healthier alternative than ingesting stimulants because the natural scent provides energy and a mental boost without causing an adrenaline rush that can strain the adrenal glands.
Lemon has been found to have energizing properties, having a stimulant-like effect on the brain and an energizing effect on the body. Lemon oil contains a high content of d-limonene, a powerful antioxidant that is helpful in inhibiting the accumulation of toxins, which in turn acts to improve circulation and therefore oxygen to all organs. This allows for a clearer mind and body, which in turn creates an energizing and mood enhancing effect.
How to use lemon oil:Days Island 100% Pure Lemon Oil
For an invigorating start to your day, simply add a few drops of lemon oil to your shower. The warm water will help diffuse the oil and the energizing scent will surely assist in waking both mind and body.
Add a few drops to a spray bottle of distilled water for an enlivening room spray and air freshener. A vapor diffuser can also be great for this—simply add a few drops of lemon oil and let the refreshing steam take over.
For a quick and revitalizing energy boost, combine a couple drops each of lemon oil and peppermint oil in 8 to 12 ounces of water. Serve over ice for a refreshing pick-me-up.
Place 1-2 drops on palms, rub together, and inhale before a workout or during a mid-day slump. This can boost your mood and reduce fatigue.
Place 3 drops of undiluted lemon oil on the base of the neck. This will allow for both easy absorption and inhalation to maximize benefits.
As always, before you begin any sort of regimen using essential oils, please consult with your physician, naturopath, or aromatherapist before doing so. The use of oils can be very empowering and effective in the treatment of a variety of ailments. However, use your own discretion; the medical community is there to help us when oils can't.
