Days Island 100% Pure Lemon OilAfter a night of overindulging, you may experience a throbbing headache, exhaustion, queasiness and even muscle fatigue. This is commonly known as a hangover. Dehydration is the main cause of these symptoms, as alcohol is a diuretic and causes a person to lose substantial amounts of water throughout the course of an evening. Because of this water loss, a person’s body us unable to detoxify itself, and this too causes unpleasant hangover symptoms.
Lemon oil (citrus limonium) is high in d-Limonene, a natural agent that is helpful in the body’s elimination of toxins. This agent, known as a terpenine, helps the liver and kidneys expel various toxins and maintain overall health and regularity. Basically, lemon oil makes the process of waste elimination run more smoothly, and let’s be honest; this is essential when you are in the throws of a hangover. Lemon oil also helps to relieve symptoms of
common digestive problems that can occur as a result of a hangover, such as heartburn, indigestion, bloating, constipation, and diarrhea. I
How to use lemon oil to ease hangovers:
Take 2-3 drops of lemon oil in a small (8 oz.) glass of water. Drink this mixture before going to bed and first thing in the morning (before eating or drinking anything else).
For acute symptoms, such as heartburn or bloating, place 3-5 drops of lemon oil in the back of the throat. Swish with saliva, and follow with a small amount of warm distilled water.
Lemon oil can also be added to hot tea and additional foods (when the flavor addition feels appropriate, such as in a lemon sauce or frosting) and this can be a great way to sneak in more digestive-boosting and detoxifying effects of lemon and d-Limomene.
