Eucalyptus Oil: Using eucalyptus oil for body cooling May 12 2014

Days Island 100% Pure Eucalyptus Oil

Body temperature is basically a measure of the body's ability to produce and rid itself of heat. The human body typically maintains a stable (but narrow) temperature range that, unless something is wrong, doesn’t fluctuate much. When out body temperature gets too high (fever or heatstroke) our bodies can become severely dehydrated and our organs are at risk.

Eucalyptus essential oil (eucalyptus radiata) is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and can help to assist the body in regulating both external and internal temperatures. This is because it is considered to be a vasodilator, meaning that it helps to widen blood vessels and as a result, blood circulates more effectively throughout the body. This translates to an increase in blood flow that can be very beneficial, especially during a time when the body is having difficulty in regulating its temperature. With summer months approaching quickly, keeping eucalyptus oil on hand can provide you with a simple method of helping the body stay cool and comfortable.

How to use eucalyptus oil to cool the body:

At first sign of overheating, fill a bowl with very cold water. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil and soak a washcloth in this mixture. Place washcloth on the chest, on the back of the neck, over the forehead, or on the bottom of the feet for at least 10 minutes to cool and calm. Repeat a few times as necessary.

For easy use throughout the day, place 20-30 (or more) drops in a spray bottle of distilled water. Spray all over the body periodically throughout the day to keep the body cool and ease any  inflammation. As an optional addition: add a few tablespoons of aloe juice to this mixture for added benefits.
