Sweet Orange Oil: Using sweet orange oil for heart palpitations July 30 2014
Heart palpitations are often the result of high-intensity anxiety that goes beyond simple feelings of stress or nervousness. When these symptoms go beyond emotions, they translate to a physical response within the body, which often includes a racing heart and palpitations. High quality sweet orange oil can naturally help to ease symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety, as it is thought to help improve the circulatory system and assist with blood flow. This makes it a great alternative to anxiety medications that often carry a wide variety of unpleasant and sedating side effects.
How to use sweet orange oil for heart palpitations:
Take 1-2 drops in 8 ounces of water or herbal tea. Repeat twice daily to help the body maintain peace and calm.
Add a few drops to a warm bath or shower. The heat and steam penetrate the skin and cells to absorb oil and circulate it throughout the body.
For an effective quick fix, rub a drop of this soothing oil on the base of the neck to immediately relieve anxiety.
Apply 1-2 drops to additional points on the body, such as the temples, inside of the wrists, between the toes, and in the armpits.
Room diffusers that produce a vapor mist are also an easy way to disperse sweet orange oil, both as a preventative measure to keep calm and also when feelings of anxiety arise. Add 3-5 drops, sit back, and inhale.
You can also create your own vapor treatment by boiling a few cups of water and adding 3-5 drops of sweet orange oil. Place a towel over your head to keep the steam concentrated around your face, bend (carefully!) over the pot and slowly inhale.
When combined with massage, sweet orange oil can be extremely effective for muscle relaxation and mood enhancement. Add 3-5 drops to a teaspoon of unscented lotion and slowly rub into skin for a full body effect.
