Lavender Oil and Teething: Problem Solved? September 18 2013

I'm taking a break from the formality of previous blog posts and getting personal today.

Our daughter, Samantha, turns one tomorrow.  Since all of our kids have been late bloomers in the tooth category, we just recently experienced her first bout with teething just a couple weeks ago.

Our boys, ages 10 and 8, struggled with teething.  I remember that time being one of long nights, constant fussing, and pain.  I'm sure it was a similar experience for them, too. ;)

With Samantha, we were armed with one thing:  knowledge.  The first night was a little bit of a struggle, since the fussing and fever didn't begin until later in the evening.  She didn't sleep very well and didn't want to take any naps that next day.

Enter lavender oil.

Right before her midday nap, Angie rubbed a couple drops of lavender oil onto the bottoms of Samantha's feet as well as under her jawbone.  Since lavender oil is not an irritant, there was no need to dilute.

It was nothing short of a miracle.

You may be thinking that I'm making this all up to sell more lavender oil.  Not the case at all.  I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.  She slept like, well, a baby!  That night, right before laying her down, we did the same thing.  Boom.  She slept through the night.  And every night since.  She now has two beautiful tiny teeth protruding from her lower gums, making her smile that much more adorable.
